OOB Community Garden Information
Location: The OOB Community Garden is situated at the far end of Ballpark Way (The Ballpark) and consists of 51 garden plots, each approximately 10' X 10'.
How to Get a Plot:
- A waiting list opens on the first business day of January at the town clerk's office, located at the Old Orchard Beach Town Hall, for those interested in obtaining a garden plot.
- After May 1st, available plots are assigned to individuals on the waiting list based on when they signed up.
- Returning gardeners have until May 1st to renew their plots. If they wish to switch or add a plot, they must join the waiting list.
Plot Fee: There is a $25 per plot fee, paid at the town clerk's office, once a plot has been assigned.
Garden Season & Communication:
- All gardeners are encouraged to attend a spring meeting in early May each year to discuss garden issues and elect board members.
- Communication is managed through email. Everyone, including those on the waiting list, will receive updates as the season approaches and throughout the gardening season.
Garden Amenities & Responsibilities:
- A garden shed is located at the community garden and stocked with tools and equipments for all gardeners to use.
- Water access is provided via a water line from The Ballpark
- Community Garden members work together to maintain the space, including mowing, rototilling, clean-ups, and repairs.
