OOB Recreation is excited to announce our Travel Basketball Program for the 2025-2026 season! This season, we are offering travel opportunities for boys and girls in 5th & 6th grades to participate in the Maine Basketball League (formerly known as the Southern Maine Hoops League). This program is designed for athletes who would like to participate in a more competitive league in the Southern Maine area.
Participation in this program includes an evaluation process. All players interested in playing on the OOB Travel Team in the Maine Basketball League are required to attend the evaluation.
Participants that do not make the travel team will have the opportunity to be placed on our recreational team that will participate in games with other local area rec teams. We offer basketball opportunities for everyone and every skill level.

Travel Basketball League Information
The OOB Travel Basketball program is open to boys and girls in 5th & 6th grades. This season we will be participating in the Maine Basketball League. Game locations for this league include the Maine Basketball Academy in Portland, the Lewiston Armory, the Maine Sports Arena in Saco, the Brunswick Recreation Center, The Point in South Portland, and some other locations that are yet to be determined. Please be advised that the OOB Recreation Department will determine whether the teams will be composed of single or combined grades, based on registrations, coach availability, and participant age and ability.
Overview of the 2025-2026 Season

Registration Fee: $225
This fee covers league entry fee, player clinics, tournament fees, referees, practices, and uniforms. Uniforms include a shooting shirt and jersey; players get to keep the shooting shirts and jerseys at the conclusion of the season.
Evaluations: Evaluations will be held at the Loranger Gym on Sunday, October 19th, 2025. Girls evaluations will be from 9am-9:45am and boys evaluations will be from 10:30am-11:15am.
The price for evaluations is $75. All athletes that do not make a travel team will have the opportunity to register for our recreation basketball program. Your payment for evaluations ($75) will be used to cover the recreation team registration fee. If you choose not to register for the recreation team, your full evaluation payment will be refunded.
If your child makes the Maine Basketball League travel team, the $75 evaluation fee will be applied towards the $225 player fee. The remaining balance of $150 will need to be paid by the first practice.
Practices are TBD. Please note that specific practice days and times will not be released until the week after evaluations. Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays between 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Teams may occasionally also have games on Friday evenings. We are unable to determine coaching availability until teams are formed and will plan practice schedules once teams are finalized.
